The most recent proposed State budget has suggested that the current CHDP well-child program become absorbed by the existing Medi-Cal and Healthy Families Programs. The State seems disappointed in the CHDP Program due to the lack of utilization of the CHDP Program as a "gateway" for children to enter into a more comprehensive healthcare program, and its insufficient data tracking. The State has long acknowledged that improving data tracking systems is necessary; however, to date it has not maximized CHDP's original intent as a true gateway program.
